HYDRA

short film/video artwork - 2022

Hydra is a 3D video artwork that evokes the quiet strength of plant beings and questions our tendency to oppose the social constructs of the natural and the artificial. In this meditative and benevolent 3D alter-world, plants explore the ambiguity of their own identity. It is made with photogrammetry, scanning and 3D modeling. The sounds are exclusively made from granular synthesis and voice synthesis via SuperCollider.

Hydra was premiered at SOUND/IMAGE festival (UK) and was presented as a projection mapping for the Lumifest Festival (CA). It has won the Canadian Electroacoustic Community’s JTTP 4th annual prize and the Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux award in 2022.
